Last week we bottled Panisse 2022!
This is a classic vintage for our Crozes-Hermitage. After a hot, dry summer, the rains at the beginning of September enabled the vines to achieve good phenolic ripeness, while maintaining reasonable alcohol levels.
This is a well-balanced, fine vintage, with fresh aromas, lovely tension on the palate, and round tannins giving a long, persistent finish.
For this vintage, the Syrahs were aged for 12 months: half in 3-wine barrels and the other half in 4-wine demi-muids. The wood ageing is therefore subtle, bringing a touch of complexity to the nose, and fleshiness to the mid-palate.
